teachers...

Teacher Training – Day 1 and 2

During our term break, we had a week of teacher training. Our first 2 days of trainings we had our teacher go to sessions covering literature and games in the classroom. I taught 2 sessions on classroom management complete with clips from Stand and Deliver and Sister Act 2. The teachers thought it was just great watching movies in a training! Tuesday afternoon we had each of our schools create a showcase of something great they are doing in their school. Each school presented as teachers rotated and listened to new ideas they can use in their classes. It was great to see the teachers so excited about activities going on at their schools!

Teacher Training – Day 3

On Wednesday we combined our Discipleship Staff and Educators together for a day of team building. We had over 200 staff playing together and building relationships with each other to create a team at each school who can work together to provide the best education for our kids. The day was filled with dodgeball, the human knot, and so many other games we all played as kids. The teachers and discipleship staff LOVED getting to play together and it was amazing to see the relationships built between the two departments.

The teachers at FCA and our discipleship staff are a dynamite team who are not educating our kids on math and English, but teaching them what it looks like to love Christ and live for him!

Teacher Training Day 4-

On Thursday we loaded all of our teachers on 5 buses and set them out on a School Tour. Family Legacy has 18 schools and most of our teachers have never seen any schools except for the one they work at. We featured 6 of our schools that are doing an exceptional job making things work at their school.  It was eye opening for some of our teachers to see the obstacles schools are overcoming to educate thousands of students. Many teachers who can be our complainers walked away amazed at what our schools are doing even when some of them are working with very little space or challenges that come from the community around them. We had a great day taking away ideas from different schools and bringing them back to make our classes even better!

mom...

 ...She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.  She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.  She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.
 Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:  "Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all."  Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.
Proverbs 31

There are very few people in life who are blessed with a mom like I have. She sacrificed EVERYTHING for us growing up and continues to even today. Her heart is bigger than anyone I have ever known.  She loves people. ALL of them! Broken, lonely, outcast... my mom loves on them.

Her light shines brightly everyday and there is not a single person who walks into her store who does not know how much she loves Jesus. I am thankful that I get to have her for a mom and my prayer is she will know how loved she is today and every day!

six months...

This week marks six months for me in Zambia. Six months ago today I said the hardest good-bye I have ever had to say. My family drove me to the airport and I was definitely that person who sobbed the entire way to the gate! When I boarded the plane that day I didn't even have a clue what all God in store for me. These past six months have stretched me, grown me, challenged me and allowed me to see a little more of the awesome God we serve!

amazed...

Our kids are on holiday right now and I have truly enjoyed getting to spend some time just playing with them! Since I have to be the rule enforcer all of the time it is so great when I get to spend time just hanging out with our kids. Anytime I take a trip around the village visiting our kids I am taken back at how creative our kids are! The things they create, find and play with amazes me...

 It is hard to find something that gives JOY like the smiles on these precious faces!
